  "I wish I would have
read this book before
I built my Access database!
So many problems would
have been avoided."
         -L.D., Ohio

Real comments from real readers:
"I have just finished reading your book, Grover Park George on Access, and I wanted to let you know that I find your method of presenting topics crystal clear - you don't assume too much from the reader (which is good in an Intro level of book), and you take the time and pages to explain a point or concept. As a college instructor, I have read or used many Access books and textbooks. If I had to learn Access all over again, I would want to read your book first, since it provides a good introduction and overview of the software. I will be recommending it to my students, as a reference".
- R.S. in Ontario

"Is there room for one more really good introductory book on databases? George Hepworth thought so, and after reading his book, Grover Park George on Access, Danny Lesandrini agrees. If you’re new to Microsoft Access, this book is a great place to start. If you’re already an Access guru, it’s definitely the kind of book you’ll want all of your clients to read."
- Danny Lesandrini, Smart Access Magazine

Grover Park George On Access

"Learn how to build Access applications that work the way you do!"

Someone finally figured out that Access is used by tens of thousands of ordinary people in thousands of businesses, social and civic organizations—not just computer geeks and IT Professionals. The author assumes his readers are intelligent human beings who have to solve real business problems every day. He assumes that they’re more interested in solving those problems than in becoming Access gurus. He also assumes that they have selected Access to solve those problems because, above all, it’s a tool that works. He wrote this book for them.

"You’ve taken the first step in becoming a database expert by selecting this book."

Grover Park George on Access is a textbook and study guide for new and intermediate Access users, not a technical manual for computer geeks. Unlike the common run of computers books—which are organized around product features—this book takes you step by step through the development process, explaining terms and concepts as they arise, providing relevant examples to keep you on track, and, perhaps most importantly, teaching you how to the use the appropriate Access features in the same context where you’ll use them in your own work.

The author is a professional Access developer, and this book is based on the methods he follows himself in creating a new database for one of his clients. It guides you through the process of creating a working database from the first step (defining the business problem it is intended to solve) through the last (deploying the application into your organization and providing on-going support to your users). Within minutes of opening this book, you’ll start creating a working database which, when completed, you will actually use! As you learn new concepts, you’ll immediately apply them to your own version of the database. The book wraps up with two “do-it-yourself” case studies, so that, by the time you have completed of the book, you will have created not one, but three usable databases.”

About the Author
During his 15 year career as a writer and instructional designer, the author, George Hepworth, designed, researched and wrote over a dozen self-study courses which were sold to independent insurance agents throughout the United States. Starting with Access 2.0 in 1994, he added database development skills to his repertoire. In 2003, he founded Grover Park Consulting and left the corporate world to pursue database development as a full-time occupation. As an educator, he has often been frustrated by the lack of decent introductory books on database development for the average user and decided to do something about it. The result is Grover Park George on Access.
