Average line on EXCEL graph (like trend line)
Posted by Erica on August 17, 2000 5:14 AM
I would like to add an average line to a simple excel graph, but do not want to create a data series for it. Excel can do fancy trend lines - how can one add a simple average line? It must be possible!

The only way I know to use the trend line
feature is add a data series made up entirely of
the average of the real data series. Hide
the data points on the chart, and give the series
a name of " ". Then, use the trend line
feature to draw a linear trend line on this
phony series. You can give the trend line
a custom name of Average if you like.
