Combo Box protection & read only

I have 2 combo boxes that dispite have their 'locked' option in their properties unchecked. they appear as read only when the protection is selected for the worksheet.
Can i Hide and Lock cels without the combo boxes being effected?

Just a guess, but have you tried unchecking the 'Objects' checkbox in the Protect Sheet dialog box
