Removing Duplicates

Posted by Dagenham Dave on March 02, 2001 11:44 AM
I am importing a text file into excel and in some cases there are some rows which contain mostly the same information. Since I do not always need all of the information, how can I get rid of more than one instance of, say, a persons last name so that for each name I only have one row that corresponds to them?

Hi Dave

Select any cell in your list and go to Data>Advanced Filter:
Filter list in place
List Range= Surname Column
Criteria Range=Surname Column
Unique Records Only
OK

Push F5 then click Special>Visible cells
Click Ok, then copy to another sheet.

Any good ?

Dave
