Filter counts
Posted by Don C on October 19, 2001 8:11 AM
Sometimes when I set a filter, the number of records that are displayed shows at the bottom of the screen. Other times the number of records does not show. I have not been able to figure out what is different between the times the record count shows and when it doesn't show.
It's not a function of the number of filters active nor the number of files/windows open. Sometimes I get a count and sometimes I don't.
Any thoughts?
TIA

Does your filtered list include cells containing formulas?

One field (column) has formulas, a simple IF statement which compares two fields. There is nothing in the dataset that refers to an external file.
I DO have worksheets in the same file that have pivot tables from the datatset, but I cannot imagine how that could affect the operation of the filter. But then if I could imagine why the filter works differently at times, I wouldn't have to ask the question, now would I? <g>

It has been my experience that formulas in a
filtered data list will cause the problem that
you've described. You could test this hypothesis
with a copy of your workbook. Just replace all
formulas with their resultant values and see if
the problem goes away.
