Filtering
Posted by Le Shawn Baynard on October 20, 2001 1:32 PM
I track stocks for the AMEX and NYSE trading between $2.00 and $25.00. Usually, I enter the numbers from Barron's Weekly newspaper. After my weekly updates are in the system, I then run an advance filter. In my criteria row I put statements like +d4>4e,+e4>f4, +f4. Finally, the filter is run and the results give me the stocks that are increasing. From that point, I can begin researching the securities.
The problem now is that I have be copying the numbers from Barron's Online instead of copying the values. When the filter is run I have no result in my destination section.

Odds are that the data is coming over from the online source as text, not numbers.
In an unused cell enter the number one ("1") and copy it. Now highlight all the new data and go to Edit/Paste Values and click on the Multiply box.
