Converting text in a row into separate columns

Posted by Byron Lee on July 25, 2001 9:31 AM
I have around 10,000 addresses that I have copied into a worksheet. The addresses all ended up in column A separated by 3 blank lines. I'm just trying to figure out a way to move the data from the column into 4 separate rows, name, street, city phone etc. Each address is made up of row 1 name row 2 street address row 3 is city, state, and phone number. I would like to be able to divide the phone number, but it's not a high priority. Any ideas? Thanks!

This is the exact same problem addressed in this tip: http://www.mrexcel.com/tip022.shtml

Once you follow this, then use Data > Text to Columns to split the phone number.
