Add new entries to a list, duplicates not added

I have a long columnar list in alphabetic order. Each day I add new entries. Some of the entries are new, some are already in the list.
The new I would like to keep, the duplicates no.
I have been trying to use the EXACT function, but I'm flailing.
Help please!
