Adding a formula to multiple cells after the fact
Posted by John on August 27, 2001 8:04 AM
I occationally set up a sheet with just a number in the cell and no formula. Sometimes I need to go back and change these cells to a formula. Is there an easy way to do this other than hitting F2 on each indivudual cell and changing that way. For instance if I want to make one column add something else to the number already entered.
Thanks

paste as values

put the formula in a different column, referencing the values in the column you want to change. Then copy the formula and "paste special" "values" into the original column and delete the formula column. Should be faster than F2.
