Fatal Error

Posted by John H on March 15, 2001 3:11 PM

I keep getting apparently random fatal error messages that crash Excel 97. Dr. Watson tells me its an access violation. Most of the time, its a simple formating move that triggers it. MIS shrugs and tells me to save my files more often. Has anyone else had this problem (with excel, not MIS...)?

Hi John

This is typical of MIS! Are you working on a network ? If so, is it NT ?

You may find that it is due to your PC having an outdated video card or printer driver. Ask the ever helpful MIS if they can uninstall the printer for a short time and see if it still happens. If it does, then ask if they can set your PC up as a stand alone system.

If all the above fail, then see your boss and tell him/her that due to your PC problems he/her is in effect paying you 3 times your hourly rate due to loss of unsaved work.
