excel97 instruction/memory error

on loading a file that was ok on excel97 now comes up with

Excel application error 0x300ae67c referance memory at
0x00000002. the memory could not be read.

it will load on execel2000 but will not load up on any
machine with excel97.

please help, thanks.

have you tried opening the file in XL2000 and doing a File>SaveAs and saving in XL97 format?

I'm having the same problem... we have users who are running MS XL97, I'm running XL2000, They are getting the same type of error when they try to open the sheet. I can open it with XL2000, but hey can't. I've tried to (save as) XL97 format, and it doesn't help... Please Help....
