Excel print/print preview error

Posted by Ed on April 23, 2001 9:19 PM
When attempting to print an Excel(2000) sheet (any) or even
print preview an error message is generated "Excel has caused an error in excel.exe"
I've attempted to remove and reinstall 2000 SR-1 with
the same results.
Any ideas oh great ones?

Hi Ed

My first thought is your printer driver needs updating. You can do this online by going the the Website of your printer.

After that try using this startup switch for Excel: Excel /regserver

To do this, quit Excel.
Go to Start>Run and type in: Excel /regserver
*Notice the space after "Excel" and before "/"
This switch forces Excel to register itself and then quit. Use this switch when you want Excel to
rewrite all of its registry keys and reassociate
itself with Excel files, such as workbooks, charts, and so on.

Next I would delete all *.tmp files, then do a disk-defrag and then a scan disks.

Last but not least paste this rather loooonnnnggg address in your address bar and see if any of the articles apply
