Light shading causes charts to crash

I recently got "into" charting and found that Excel 97 crashed every time during the chart wizard (step 3) with this dump:-

I have recently read in a book "Excel Annoyances" (recommended) that there is a known bug in Excel - when the light shading tool is displayed, the chart wizard crashes. It says there is a fix which you can download from Microsft's site, but I can't find it. Anyone know what the URL is for the fix?

Yes this is a known probelm, which had a work around, but the problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows, Service Release 1, have a look @:
