Conditional formating between sheets?
Posted by Mandy on November 26, 2001 2:02 AM
Have mastered conditional formating on one worksheet,
I would like to change the format of a cell or preferably row from the information contained in another worksheet (within the same workbook)
i.e. if the value of sheet 1 cell D5 is "Y"
then Sheet 2 cell A5 is shaded red (or preferably A5:G5 is red)
Can't seem to figure it out, please help!
Thanks

Forgot to mention the cells I wish shaded, already have data in them, which must stay unharmed
Thanks

Activate D5 of Sheet1, go to the Name Box on the Formula Bar, type TargetCell, and enter.
Activate A5:G5 of Sheet2,
activate Format|Conditional Formatting,
choose "Formula Is" for Condition 1,
enter as formula:
=TargetCell="Y"
activate Format,
activate the Patterns tab,
choose the color you want,
click OK,
click OK.
