improper fractions

i am trying to show fractions in the improper form, e.g. as british betting odds.
if i enter,say, 11/8 this then shows as 1 3/8.
i just want it to show up as 11/8
can anyone help ??

Use the following custom format: ?/?

You can format the cell as text and it will show up as typed or in cell format choose custom
number and type "##/##" that will kep it as a number and allow you to have improper fractions.
