Rounding Down

Hi-

I am trying to figure out how to format a cell so that instead of automatically rounding up when >5 its rounds down.

Thanks,
Erin

Possible bug with this function?

Thanks,

When I went to use the function though it still rounds up. I am working on EXCEL 95. I know I am using the function properly. Any chance there is a bug with it?

I am not aware of a bug. Are you sure the cell with the formula is formatted properly? As an example if cell A1 contains the fuction "=ROUNDDOWN(B1,1)", and cell B1 contains 3.999, the result in cell A1 should be 3.9, but if the cell is formated to "0" decimal places, the result in cell A1 will be "4".

I don't think so - the result should be 3.9 in both cases.

Re: Possible bug with this function?

Celia, I am saying if cell A1 is formatted to zero decimal places, then cell A1 will only display whole numbers, so 3.9 would be displayed as 4, as would "=ROUNDDOWN(B1,1" in A1 when B1 containes 3.999. I am not refering to formatting in B1, but in A1.
