Workbooks link

I would like to ask you the following question:

I have a workbook (let´s name it as WB2)linking information to other workbook (let´s name it
WB1); WB2 linking formula looks like this:

=MAX(('WB1.xls'!$C$2:$C$10000=A2)*(´WB1.xls'!$G$2:$G$10000))

NOTE : It is an array formula.

When WB1 is open, links work fine, but when I open WB2
and WB1 is closed, I get #VALUE in my formula result.
When I try Edit, Links and Update now, it doesn´t
work, neither.

Any suggestion?

Thanks a lot.

Sincerely yours,

If you want the formula to work when WB1 is closed, you need to include the full path in the formula. For example :-

=MAX(('C:\My Documents\My Folder\[WB1.xls]Sheet1'!$C$2:$C$10000=A2)*('C:\My Documents\My Folder\[WB1.xls]Sheet1'!$G$2:$G$10000))
