If function

Hello. In cell A1 I have a description of a product with either the state spelled out or abbreviated (California or CA). In cell A2 I would like to write a formula that would place the state inside cell A2. I've tried using the If function but can't seem to get it to work. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Anthony

Anthony,

Give some examples of product descriptions which apparently contains the state.

Hello Aladin! Thanks for the response. Here is an example:

It's a VBA question

I suspected something like this. I believe you need a task-specific VBA code that is capable of searching each item from a state (including abbrevs) list in a given string that produces the state or abbrev substring that it finds. So, you need a VBA programmer.
