Range Input Function?

I am converting a Lotus spreadsheet to Excel. Does Excel have an equivalent function to the Lotus range input (i.e., /riRangeName~ ) function? I would like to avoid using a form for inputting data if at all possible. Thanks.

Jeffrey

You can name ranges very easily on Excel in opne of two ways:

Short cut

Select the range
Type the name you want into the Name Box at the top left hand corner of the formula bar.

Long Way
Use the Insert Name menu. This gives you the complete range if methods.

I use ranges all the time and use the Name Box for naming them and the Insert Name menu for editing or removing ones I do not need.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately I wasn't clear in my message about my problem. In Lotus, you can use a Range-Input set of commands, that when used will automaticaly restrict your cursor to unprotected cells within that range. I was looking for an equivalent Excel function. Do you know of any? Thanks.
