ACK! why when I place a 3D reference i get #VALUE error?

Posted by Laura L on August 30, 2000 12:06 PM

=COUNTIF(blkform!L12:L32,"<4001")
changed this to:
=COUNTIF(blkform:blkform8!L12:L32,"<4001")

and now because of the 3D reference I get a #Value error.

can you tell me why and how to fix please?

I think Ivan's suggestion of a UDF is the best way. There is a way with Excel's built in functions but it's a bit messy:-
Do the COUNTIF formula on each sheet(in cell A1,say) and then on the summary sheet sum the results of the COUNTIF formulas with =SUM(blkform:blkform8!A1)

Unfortunately the above function is NOT 3d enabled
That is it will not work across sheets, some functions
are 3d enabled and some aren't.
Another way ?? well you could look @ a UDF ??
