hours & minutes to hours and decimals

I would like to convert a list of hours and minutes
to hours and decimals and then to work out the difference between the figures and express it as a decimal
i.e.

Hours Decimals Difference
201:30 = 210.5 =
203:12 = 203.2 = 7.3

Any ideas?

Firstly I have changed the format of your first part to hours less than 24 as it makes Excel think you have several days. It does work all the same though.

Secondly, I have used to the second of 2 finish times you quoted. ie 210:30 gives you the answer you are looking for.

Cell B2 = Start Time (3:12 format cell as a time)
Cell B3 = Stop time (10:30 )

=((HOUR(B3)+MINUTE(B3)/60)-(HOUR(B2)+MINUTE(B2)/60))

this gives you the formula as a fraction.
