Sometimes when I enter a formula in a cell, the
formula itself prints instead of the result?

You need to make sure that you start the formula with the equal (=) sign, or else Excel may think you're entering a text string. It may also do this if you are using a function that the program doesn't recognize.

You may be attempting to enter a formula into a
cell that's formatted as Text. If so change the
cells format to some other valid format (e.g.,
General).
