Add-In dialog box - remove item

Posted by Kevin James on June 13, 2001 8:06 AM
Hello message board compadres!

Well I blew it. I've been messing around with creating add-ins. On particular one I named one thing and then, decided to enhance and name it something else. The old description still exists (though unchecked). How does one remove the old description totally?

Thanks,
Kev

By removing the Addin File. The default storage
is usually;
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Library

OR

C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns

But just do a search for it.
When found simply delete it. Note you will
have to restart excel for the discription to
update.

I don't think that's it????

Hi Ivan:

I know the location of the add-ins themselves. But deleting them doesn't change the list in the Add-Ins pane in Excel. My question was how to delete an item from that Add-Ins pane. I checked to see what I could find in the that may qualify, but nothing came up. (I searched for any file modified on the hard drive within a given period.).

Did I misunderstand your instructions?

Kevin

Which version of Excel are you using ??
Excel2000 will do as I suggested.
Excel 97 is diff.......see
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q161/4/39.ASP

Same applies to excel2000 except the entry for the
registration is;
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Excel\Add-in Manager
