LINK UPDATE PROBLEM

Okay, not sure how to word this but here goes. I created a file with links to a couple other files. I deleted 2 of them and now when I open it, I get a message telling me "File not found." I can't seem to delete these links and they are driving me crazy!! Please help!

The function where this code is wherever it is will have the name of the workbook that it is referincing. So for example when you open if it says cannot find file (myfile.xls) then you should do a find for that. Then delete or modify the code to elliminate the problem.

I already deleted the files, that is why the error message is occuring....

Hi Sandy

This is a relatively common problem in Excel.
I have written the full documentation
on how to go about removing links, but I'm unable to access it for another 10 hours.

But go here:

and download the Delete links wizard. If you still having problems you can email me.

Hi Sandy

I have my links documentation in a previously asked question, so here it is:


1. Go to Insert>Name>Define and make sure you do not have any named ranges refering to an outside Workbook.

2. Go to Edit>Links and try to use the "Change Source" button to refer your link back to the your open workbook. In other words try and change the link so it refers to itself.

3. Open the a new workbook and create a link to it and Save. Now go to Edit>Links and use the "Change Source" to refer the link to the new Workbook. Save again and then delete the link you created.

In fact it is a handy add-in to have even if one of the above steps does work.
