Updating links

Posted by Barrie Davidson on April 27, 2001 12:23 PM
I have a file with links. When I select Edit,Links from the menu bar I cannot select the Manual Update option (the radio button).

Does anyone know why this selection might be greyed out??

Thx, Barrie

Hi Barrie,

I just now looked at a linked file I keep. Here is what I found. If I open the master form, the one that actually links, the option is available. However, if I close it and open one of the dependent files, the option is greyed out. Either the links no longer exist the file you are opening or it is not the master.

Thanks for the response Kevin. This doesn't seem to be the problem here. I tried making a very simple linked file, cell A1 linked to cell A1 in another file. Both files only contain data in cell A1. I STILL CANNOT CHANGE THE OPTION TO MANUAL UPDATE!!! Very frustrating...any other ideas.

Hi Barrie

This option is only for linked Objects between Applications eg; a Chart in Word or Powerpoint.

Thanks Dave
