Links Broken when file transfered to another's box

Posted by Bill Thale on June 11, 2001 5:01 PM
I have formulas that rely on data in another spreadsheet.

The formulas are using full naming, i.e.,

=SUMIF('\\Thale\c\[TEST.xls]East'!$C$1:$Z$1,EOMONTH($C$3,0),'\\Thale\c\[TEST.xls]East'!E15:AB15).

This works on the original machine, but when transferred to another machine the formulas come up #value#. If I then open the links, it finds the file and opens it.

What's up with that.

That is weird. In the Links dialog box, do you have the link specified with UNC or with local mapping? If it's local, respecify it with UNC by going to Network Neighborhood and finding the file. I work with heavily linked worksheets and by keeping everything UNC I have no problems.
