Urgent: Linking Problem

Posted by Wendy on November 14, 2001 7:56 AM
Why will my destination file only update if the source file is open? If the source file is closed, I get the error message: Unable to read file. Please help!

Not that this helps, but I have the same problem in Excel 97, only it just crashes.
My only suggestion is to examine your links (Edit: Links) and verify they're all kosher.

When I check my links, (edit: links), and do a check status, it says error: file not found. Do you think it could be something about the path?

Probably. Unless you have links to a lot
of workbooks, try relinking. Delete the link &
redo it. Also, if you changed the name of any linked
workbooks, Excel seems to freak out.
