I have a spreadsheet containing columns : companyname, region, purchase volume and sales volume. I am trying to get the sub total of purchase volume and sales volume by company by region. My problem is how do you make the purchase volume and sales volume sub total side by side instead of on under the other or creating 2 pivot tables.

Put company and region in the row field and purch vol and sales volume in the column field and purch and sales volume in the data area.
That should work for a side by side total

I actually just figure it out myself, you need to go to "auto format" (you can find it in the pivot table toolbar). and select the format you want.
