How to change dates to days in a pivot table

I've "grouped" a bunch of dates in a pivot table.
They're grouped into days, but they're showing up in my table as Aug-28, Aug-29, Aug-30, etc.

Is there a way to get these to show up as Mon.,Tues.,Wed.?.....preferably, without having to modify my data with extra columns/formulas.

Try applying;
Custom formats > dddd
