Subtotal?

Here is my spreadsheet.

1 Jones
2 Jones
3 Jones
4 Jones
5 Jones
6 Smith
7 Smith
8 Smith

I want to get a total of the number of times Jones and Smith are listed. I have around 500 names and I know there has to be a way to count them.

You could use COUNTIF (look in Help)
