Help! I have entered all of my students grades into Excel and now I totally forget how to even begin to average them!

What is a grade: a number or a letter code?
How many grades do you have per student? That is, are you trying to average per student or all students taken together?

Another Question...

Did you put all the grades in 1 column like...

Name Test# Grade
Tom 1 80
Jane 1 86
Bill 1 95
Tom 2 79
Jane 2 100
Bill 2 90

If you did all you need to do is create a PivotTable
with the Name field in the Row Area and the Grade
in the Data Area and its summary function set to
Average.
