Remove macro from file received from client

I received a zipped file from a client. When I opened it, there was a macro imbedded in the file. If I delete the macro, will it affect the data contained in the file? I tried copying the sheet to another book via Edit/Move or copy sheet and also just using copy/paste. Both times the macro was still there. If it would affect the data, is there another way to get the data in an Excel file without having the macro follow it? Thanks.

It depends on what is in the macro as to how it will effect your data. to delete the macro, open the worksheet, click on tools, select macro, slect macro from the pulldown and highlight the macro and select delete. I would do this first to one of the copied worksheets to see how it effects your data with the macro being deleted.

And if you want to copy the values of the data, you can Copy the cells, on the new worksheet select Paste Special, and select Values. That will copy just the values of the cells.
