: I would like to know how to type a phrase or single word in any given cell and have that text searched for in a hidden worksheet named "Recommendations". When the text is found, I would like what I typed in to be replaced by the matching entry from 'Recommendations" including all formatting, especially any blank lines. Is this better done with a macro? I am currently using data validation and a pull down list, but it is getting very long.

If I understand you correctly, your needs would best be served with a macro. Can you post a sample of your data in the sheet "Recommendations" including which field (column) contains the data you want to match and what information you need returned from "Recommendations"?

There is a sheet named Recommendations that is straight text containing drug names and dosages, as well as other instructions. They are all in column A. What I would like to do is type a phrase or single word in say cell G1, H1, I1, etc. that occurs in one of the recommendations and have the contents of the recommendation cell replace the word or phrase I typed.
Below is one of the recommendations:
"ADR DRUG ONLY - Please be aware this resident receives ATARAX. Federal guidelines indicate that this medication can be associated with adverse drug effects in the elderly . If therapy is to remain unchanged, please document a review of this potential risk vs benefit in the chart. Thank you
