Help; I need a way to highlight across columns in a single row.

Is there a way to highlight data in a row across several columns. Much like having a ruler that moves down each row with the cursor. I have several spreadsheet that have lots of colums and it is difficult seeing across the entire row without moving the cursor. It would be great if I could turn on a a macro that would highlight the entire row across all the colums similar to when you click on the row number, but being allowed to do it from any column and be able to scroll with it.
