Macro's

Just learning how to write macro's. Here's my problem:
I Record the macro. Create the Button on the spreadsheet. Save the Work. I get prompted to save the Personal.xls, which I say No. (DO I HAVE TO SAY YES)?.

Then I reopen the file later on to finish my entries (data), and the buton's fail to work.
Says the Personal.xls can't be found.

??:
If I say YES to saving the PERSAONL.xls file, will the buttons work no matter which folder I move the EXCEL file to?

Once the quote information on the customer is completed, we move the file from the OPEN folder to the Closed folder , and then our sales and Purchasing staff can peruse the info.

Also, when you record a macro, can you use the same macro on other workbooks?

Mike:

When you first record the macro you should be given the
option to store it in Personal.xls, This Workbook, or
a New Workbook. To make the macros available in the
current workbook you should select This Workbook.

Typically Personal.xls is used for code that you want
to use with Excel. I hope this helps.

Yes. So when I move the file from one folder to another, anyone else can manipulate the spreadsheet using any buttons I have created??

Personal.xls is where you would store your personal
code to run on your machine. The code would not be
available unless the user could access the personal.xls
file.

If you save the code in This Workbook then the
code will be available to that workbook, where ever
it is.
