Text string betweent two symbols

I tried searching, but got way too many hits...

In A1 I have the following formula: =+'[year 2003 Commis_October.xls]ema'!$A$1

In B1, I want to extract the string between ] and ' (in this case, ema). How can I do this?

Thanks,

Bill

Re: Text string betweent two symbols

Requires the morefunc.xll add-in...

=WMID(WMID(FORMULATEXT(A1),2,1,"]"),1,1,"'")
