You can use the "mode" function to return a value that has occured the most time in a range

This only works for numeric values but I need this to work for text values as well.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
Maybe try eg:

=INDEX(A1:A10,MATCH(MAX(COUNTIF(A1:A10,A1:A10)),COUNTIF(A1:A10,A1:A10),FALSE))

which must be confirmed with Ctrl+Shift+Enter, not just Enter. If correctly entered Excel will surround this array formula with curly braces {}.
