Need to link cell value to display embedded object

I've been working on a project for work and making great progress, but now I've hit a roadblock. So some advice would be really appreciated.

I need to display a different embedded object (bitmap) depending on the value in a cell, next to or near the cell.

I've pasted the embedded objects in a separate worksheet from a Word file.

There are nine different potential values which correspond to nine different embedded objects. Or a range of values indicating either LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH, for two different variables.

I was hoping to use an IF function, but I can't find a way to make it work. Conditional formatting of the cell won't work either.

I suspect the LOOKUP functions might help me, but I've never used them before.

And unfortunately, I've never done any programming.

Thoughts?

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Here is an example of how to update a picture using a workbook name without the need for VBA code. There is an explanation in the attached workbook.

UpdatePicUsingWorkbookName.zip

If you are unable to implement the example, you are welcome to send me your workbook.

It would be helpful if I knew how the embedded objects are embedded into the worksheet in order to reference them...
