Howdy Ken, welcome to the board. The real answer is probably, but I shudder at the thought of it...
If you're real serious about updating an excel worksheet, a more simplified version would be to run an ontime procedure with something like:

Which isn't that close to what you asked for. You're going to need an internet connection in any case, my recommondation is to set up cnbc's running ticker on your PC:
http://moneycentral.msn.com/cnbc/tv/default.asp
You can customize your security list.
