I am trying to link a table to Access. The problem is the base table has the same field name listed twice(_17). I cannot change the base table so I would like to link the table but only link certain fields. Ideally, I would like to limit the results to a preset criteria in order to avoid writing a query to make a subsetted table.

I have had to import the table to Excel, eliminate the column and then import the revised table into Access. Is there a way around this and still be able to just link the table?

Best way to learn Power Query?
Read M is for (Data) Monkey book by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. It is the complete guide to Power Query.
I think the easiest thing to do would be to link the table to Access "as-is", and then use a query to remove the columns you don't want. Queries and tables are pretty interchangeable in Access (to be used in other queries, reports, forms, etc.).

Is there some reason for your reluntance in doing this in a query?

also, just curious about where you're linking from... is it another access db, excel, .csv etc.
