I always wondered how someone becamse a MrExcel MVP? Is there a way to nominate people? Is it voted on by current MVP's? Do people get an invitation and decide to accept or decline? I was just wondering how the MVP's get their status?

old links before a board update don't work. There's nothing we can do about it.

MrExcel MVPs are nominated and voted for by other MVPs to invite the member. The criteria are:

- Quality of posts
- Quantity of posts (not that you need a ton, but it helps to be a "regular" poster)
- Depth of Excel/Access knowledge
- Demeanor/attitude
- How long you have been a member on this board

To follow on what Tracy said, it's not something you ask for, it's a group you're asked to join, and you might never know it's coming until it hits you (like the Microsoft MVP).

Tracy's points are spot on, but it's pretty much a majority all-or-none vote on a mix of things that really can't be quantified (and each MVP votes on things differently).

As for nominating people here it's done by existing MVP's, but if you want to nominate someone you can always PM one of us. If it's for you, the best way to ask is by not asking.
