Yes, there is a way to do this - tough it involves creating your chart from PivoteTable:On 2002-06-17 12:01, Waxaholic wrote:
I want to display data within a chart in descending order without sorting the data source spreadsheet. Is this possible? I am using a bar chart for example and would like to graph the Top 20 values in descending order within the chart. I don't want to disturb the data source spreadsheet and do not want to create any more sheets or cells. I am trying to keep the workbook size to a minimum for distribution sake. Any help you can offer would be great.
1) Create a PivoteTable by entering the wizard and selecting range.
2) In Row field put the Names and in Data field put your Values.
3) When clicking twice on the Row PivoteTable field (Names) you can choose to sort your Values by entering the "Advanced..." option and choosing the field to sort (Values).
4) Create your Bar chart from the PivoteTable and Refresh it whenever you need.
Your plot will be sorted with no need to sort the original data.
Hope this make sense!
