Hello all,

How do I turn the automatic backup feature off? The help file says Tools>Options>General, but I don't see the checkbox. I don't see a missing add-in either.

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
My Help screen says Tools > Autosave (I'm running XL 2000, SR-1). If you don't have Autosave showing, you may need to re-install the Add-In by going to Tools > Add-Ins and selecting the Autosave add-in. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah that's a different feature. I'm talking about the one that makes a .xlk file in the same directory as the original file.

Have you tried looking on the Save tab or any of the other tabs under options? There should be a checkbox somewhere.

I'm using Excel XP, and there is a checkbox to turn off automatic saving of "autorecover" info.

Just a thought!
