    Please forgive my novice abilities.

I am an Excel newbie of sorts. I have created a spreadsheet that I will be using to inventory and catalog all of my musical and studio gear including title, description, list price, retail price (along with discount modifier), Qty., Model Number and Serial Number of each item.

What I'm wanting to add, but not sure if it's possible, is some sort of "button" or something that will allow me to view an image of each item if I decide to add an image.

I know that embedding images into this document will make it extremely large... but I want to 'pop-open' an image for each item that has an image via some sort of button or link.

    Is this possible or feasable...?

    Thanks in advance...!

    Scott,

Have you considered storing your images on a network drive or locally on a computer and setting a hyperlink to the picture by...

click "Insert" and choose "Hyperlink" from the menu and navigate to where your picture is stored

This will create a hyperlink in your spreadsheet to your picture.

    Scott,

I definitely would go for the other guys solutions but if you are really not worried about the size of the file - this is a cool idea -

Firstly on the cell with the description of the item add a comment.
Right click on the border of the comment box and select "Format Comment".
Select the Colors and Lines tab.
Under "Fill" select the drop down on the "Color" box.
Select "Fill Effects" at the bottom.
    Choose the picture tab.
Hit the "Select Picture" button, find your picture and Insert.
OK out of the Format area.

Now when the cursor is over the description cell, a picture of the item will pop up in the comment box.

As I say, it looks spiffy but goes large very quickly. Use sparingly if possible.

    Regards,

    DBA
