Hello
I have a problem, I need to asign a keyboard shortcut that gives the degree sign.
The thing is that the person that needs it, doesn't have the degree sign in the keyboard, and he says that in word he presses CTRL or ALT +d and it inserts the sign, but it doesn't work with excel.
I tried recording a macro that inserts the degree sign, and then assigned a shortcut, but it works only if the cell will only have that symbol.
My boss needs to be typing any phrase and in any moment while typing press any keyboard shortcut and it should work.
Hopefully you guys understand me.
Thanks a lot

Alt 0176 (from the number pad) will give you the degree symbol in Excel

Note that the numbers 0186 need to be typed on the numeric keypad, not on the numbers above the letters.

Thanks for the fast replies, faster than what it took me to remember to write that he uses a laptop.
Everyone here is on laptop cause is a lot of rotation in the job. So we don't have numeric pads.

You might have a Function (Fn) key... if you do, try ALT+FN+0186

if it still doesn work you can always add CHAR(186) in the cell

ie: =13 & CHAR(186)
which will show 13º

OK here is what I would do.
Go to tools > AutoCorrect>
In the replace enter:
bzzz (or whatever you want)
In the with enter:
the degree sign ( here is where you go to the character map as described above)
Then if you are in a cell and enter 45 bzzz it should give you the correct results

Gotta check for the FN key, but for adding it in the cell, can't be done because is more like a lot of text and using the degree symbol anywhere in like 5 lines of text.
I will ask if he can do it with autocorrect, but he's not a savy computer user, that's why I wanted a macro that did it auto.
Still open for answers ^^
