I'm trying to install the Solver add-in in a trial version of Excel 2007. When I try to install I get an error message stating that Excel cannot access the file solver.xlam. The various reasons given (file does not exist, file being used by another program and file is being saved to same name as currently open workbook) do not apply.

I've tried a repair and run the diagnostics, but still can't install. The Analysis Toolpack add-in installed without any problem.

Any suggestions?

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
Well... I HAD this problem.

The problem was not installing 'Visual Basic for Applications' before, when I installed Office 2007.

VBA is in Office Shared Features group.

Just insert your Office installation disk, select 'Add or Remove Features' and then VBA.

After that Solver can be installed in Excel.

Good luck.

Hi all,
I also have the same problem with the Excel 2007. When I tried to add in the analysis tool pak, the following errors appeared:

There are several possible reasons:
The file name or path does not exist.
The file is being used by another program.
The workbook you are trying to save had the same name as a currently
open workbook.

I don't have that problem before with Excel 2003.I don't know what should to resolve this isse. Please give me some advise and detail direction.
I do appreciate your help!!
