Enter "contiguous" as the keyword on the Help Index tab.
If you can't see the Index tab click on the Show tool (leftmost position) on the Help dialog's command bar.

Never seen this before and not sure what I am doing wrong. I cannot find a reference to contiguous reference in the Excel Help.
Enter "contiguous" as the keyword on the Help Index tab.
If you can't see the Index tab click on the Show tool (leftmost position) on the Help dialog's command bar.
This means that the selection must be a single cell or the selection must be a rectangular area, not multiple unconnected areas.
I had the same problem trying to generate a Histogram. The solution I found to work was to copy the bin data onto the same worksheet as the sample data.
