Hi All
Can anyone advise if there is a function or series of functions that I can use to create the standard "S" curve or Logistic curve used in the construction industry.
In my case, I simply want to know:
How much I have spent at what period in the construction process to see whether I am in front or behind my projections by looking at a created chart.

Any advise / assistance would be appreciated.
One thing I am no good at is financial stuff !!

Excel Facts

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
Search google for 'logistic function' (w/o the quotes) or sigmoid. You could also use the equation =a*(1+m*EXP(-x/tau))/(1+n*EXP(-x/tau)) where a, m, n, and tau are parameters.

Hi Tushar
Thanks for the response.
I'll give the search a try
Just looking at the equation has freaked me out.
Ultimately I'd like to create some VBA that would plot the graph and then let the boss read the chart each month when I update it.

It would be much easier to plot out the points using an equation like tusharm's and then plot the resulting data points dynamically rather than to make a VBA function to do the same.

Could you give some sample data if you have it? There are many types of S curves, and we don't know your inputs or what you expect to come out.

Hi Sal
On doing a bit more searching I have found out that @RISK for Excel will do the S curve.
One of our other departments has this software so i'm going to beg them to take over the request or at the very least show me the steps to process it.

I blame this board for getting me into VBA.......all I want to do now is create code and functions. lol

Thank you for responding though.
