Is there a way to connect a vba created grouped set of lines with a autoshape text box such that if the grouped set of lines moves, the text box follows it?

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
It's possible to Group a line (or Grouped lines) with a TextBox from the Drawing Toolbar. If you record a macro while doing it manually you will get some code.
