Hi,

Say, Cell A3, has Code with a drop down list box. I'm picking the 1st item "cd01". The Code Name is displayed in B3. C3 has division, which is again a drop down list box. I'm picking "APD".

Next entry by mistake if I happen to select cd01 and APD again, I must display an error message.

Hope you must have understood my problem.

I'm getting problem with your edit option. It's not allowing me to edit, so I'm re-entering this question again.

Regards.

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
I think, not sure, that you could use Data Validation for this, with a formula, something like

=COUNTIF(A$1:A1,A1)=1

For the "Edit" part... I believe it only allows you to edit it for the next 30 minutes after you have posted.

Hi,

I don't need the count of it. I want to avoid the redundancy of records being entered. It's just a way of entering unique records.

How will I display the error message for this ?
